Going for the Gold
|
On June 25th, our graduates received their diploma and for the first time in 13 years these children will not belong to us, rather, they will now belong to the world. Graduation is always a bittersweet time as we say goodbye to our graduates, yet I remain in awe of their accomplishments and plans for the future. Senior Awards Night and High School Graduation remind me of how talented our students are and how secure I feel knowing that our future lies in their hands.
All our students and staff have worked so hard this year to elevate academic achievement and a summer break is well deserved. Still, I have to admit that I am already looking forward to the 2008-2009 school year. Waxed floors, polished desks, and new squeaky sneakers excitedly rushing down the halls are magic to me as they fill the senses with the hope of another great year of progress.
We have much to look forward to again this fall. My anticipation is even greater against the backdrop of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. As I watch outstanding athletes of every race, color and religion from around the world compete through a myriad of rugged challenges in Beijing, one idea will cross my mind. In 2009, Bergenfield Public School District is going for GOLD!
Congratulations BHS Class of 2008! You have already won the Gold Medal in our eyes.
With Bear Pride,

Dr. Michael D. Kuchar
Superintendent of Schools
